Back Pain

If you are one of the many people that suffer with back pain then you will know what little relief there is from this condition; medical science is still some way from discovering a back pain relief remedy that will work for everyone. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain.

back painMany people with spinal problems become addicted to the medication that relieves the back pain but this should really be the responsibility of a doctor. Back pain is often caused by muscle strains, repeated strenuous exercises and poor sitting posture.

Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy objects or lifting them incorrectly. However, a number of back pain relief treatments can be used without the need for drugs. Tense muscles in the back can be eased just by gentle stretching; this provides relief and is simple to carry out.

Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet. It is often successful at treating people with long term conditions. Another benefit to reflexology is how it can improve the circulation which helps to ease tense muscles.

Acupuncture is used frequently by people suffering spinal agony by giving them back pain relief just as it has for thousands of years, although, only recently in the West. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory that all people have this energy which flows through them called ‘chi’ or ‘qi’. Chi can become blocked but can be released by using thin needles inserted into various points on the body. There are large numbers of people that use acupuncture on a regular basis and claim it works well for them providing pain relief; especially those who have what is termed a chronic condition.

Relief can also come from another Chinese treatment like tai chi which is a form of yoga but not so strenuous. Tai Chi is however very gentle and easily performed by young and older people. It focuses on breathing exercises with additional stretching movements.

In addition to these methods to natural back pain relief, exercise can also help to relieve back pain. By exercising regularly there is less chance of a continued back pain.
