Losing Weight with Liposuction
Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that aims to eradicate excessive stubborn fat from those hard to lose areas on women and men. This should not be used as a treatment for weight loss. The only problem with this procedure is that sometimes the fat returns some time later. Unfortunately this usually occurs in a different area - one that was possibly fat free before!
If you are planning to have the treatment, you will probably be offered one of two common methods, Ultrasonic or Tumescent although there are others. The most modern of these techniques is Tumescent and has become one of the most commonly practiced aesthetic cosmetic procedures in America.
There is less bruising with this method which is an additional benefit from the use of a smaller tube. Tumescent liposuction technique is proved to cause less pain, bruising and swelling after surgery, hence shortening the postoperative recovery period.
Ultrasonic liposuction offers smoother results than traditional liposuction and it is more effective in treating the awkward, fibrous areas including the upper back.
The conventional method is often more difficult to perform over other cosmetic treatments because the surgeon cannot see where the probe is, and as a consequence internal injury can be the result. The best thing to do is to consult with a surgeon to choose the most suitable technique for your body.
As with any type of medical procedure, liposuction does have some risk attached although professional cosmetic surgeons take great care of their patients. Anyone considering this treatment will need to have a medical examination first to confirm they are in good physical health for the procedure to take place. To ensure infections do not occur after treatment, cosmetic surgeons prescribe antibiotics to patients and re-iterate the importance of keeping wounds clean. As time has passed, a great deal has been learned and techniques improved.
One interesting alternative to regular liposuction is called Lipo Dissolve which uses a number of small injections to dissolve fat but it is normally limited to individuals with cellulite and other related conditions. As the process is almost pain free, patients can have it performed while they are fully conscious and with other cosmetic skin treatments that do not require surgery.
